Warnings
*Make sure to follow the instructions below when the fluid medium is water.
Surge pressure must be controlled lower than max. operating pressure when using water as a fluid medium.
Tap water in Japan free from foreign substances or contamination can be used. Carry out the evaluation under an actual operating condition for using other kind of water.
Be sure to place Insert Ring (WR) into the tube edge when using water as a fluid medium.

Detailed Safety Instructions
Warning
1.For the 20 & 60 series, do not use them unless all the conditions stated in the specification are met when the fluid medium is water. It may cause damage to the product, disengagement of the tube, or leakage.
Caution
1.Do not use a lubricator on products.
2.When operating the 20 & 60 series, turn the handle until it stops at 90 degrees. Inadequate turning may cause poor continuity and insufficient flow due to insufficient switching.
3.When using under negative pressure, install a vacuum filter on the suction side. Dust sucked in may cause malfunctioning.
4.Do not pull out the locking pin, as this will cause the unit to separate. Also, make sure that the lock pin is securely inserted when using.
5.When tightening the countersunk head screw to a union type fixing holder, refer to the tightening torque in the below table. If not tightened with the proper torque, the holder may come off due to breakage or deformation of the screw part or loosening of the screw.
6.Do not rotate the elbow co-rotation stopper with a torque greater than the handle operation. Excessive torque may cause the stopper to spin out.
7.The lockout cap can be easily cut and destroyed with a utility knife, nippers, etc. This product is designed to prevent mishandling in a simple manner. If further reliability is required, consider alternative methods.
Frequently Asked Questions for Valve Series
No, you cannot. PISCO Mechanical Valve needs oil lubrication. You cannot introduce oil into a pneumatic system when the fluid medium is vacuum air.
PISCO Hand Valve and Ball Valve are designed not to have leakage from the fluid stopper part.
On the other hand, PISCO Speed Controller and Throttle (Needle) Valve are designed to allow some leakage from the fluid stopper part (control function) even when they are fully closed.
Mounting Bracket for Ball Valve 20 & 60 series Union type is available as an option.
Optional items for 20 & 60 series are available to prevent co-rotation.
The reason for not allowing water is that Ball Valve Mini 10 series has a small body and may not be able to bear surge pressure (temporary, rapid increase in pressure) when fluid flow is shut off by the valve.

PISCO's primary shutoff valves are Hand Valve (HV) and Ball Valve (BV).
The term "valve" originally referred to an internal movable part, valving element. Now the term encompasses the entire valve and sometimes refers to manual valves such as hand valves and ball valves, and other times, solenoid valves.
PISCO's manual valves include Hand Valve (HV) and Ball Valve (BV). For solenoid valves, we have SVR, SVB, etc.
Residual pressure exhaust valves are designed to release residual pressure in the circuit into the atmosphere to prevent mechanical malfunctions.
The three-directional control valve type (the number "3" engraved on the cap lever) of PISCO Hand Valve releases residual pressure at the secondary outlet port through the gap around the cap lever when it is turned off.
Residual pressure can be released using PISCO Change Valve and Mechanical Valve also.
Please follow the instructions below to insert tubes since Foot Switch type has MVM (Microswitch silencer exhaust pin type valve) incorporated inside.
1. Find the protrusions at both sides of the main unit securing the pedal.
2. Press the pedal-securing protrusions with a tool such as a screwdriver.
3. After the pedal is unhooked from the protrusions, open the pedal cover.

Remove the spring inside.
*Be careful not to lose the spring.
5. Pass two tubes for IN and OUT ports through the tube lead-in holes (either at the side or the back).
6.
Insert the tubes into IN and OUT ports of the incorporated Mechanical Valve (MVM).
*Be sure to push the tube all the way to the tube end.
7. Place the spring back in the designated position and close the pedal cover.
8. Step on the pedal to ensure Mechanical Valve is working properly. Also make sure that the pedal returns to the initial position when your foot is off the pedal.

Although both Hand Valve and Ball Valve are shutoff valves, they have different characteristics because of their structural differences.
Please select the one that best suits your applications.
Hand Valve:
A spool valve (the housed spool slides to open and close the air flow path) is employed.
Hand Valve's primary purpose is to open and close air flow path. It basically cannot adjust air flow rates. A two-directional control valve (open/close) or three-directional control valve (open/close, and releasing residual pressure at the secondary outlet port into the atmosphere when closed) can be selected. The fluid medium is air only. Its resin body is light, and the width of handle lever is smaller than the width of the body, making it suitable for parallel arrangement.
Ball Valve:
As the product name implies, a spherical core (ball) rotates to open and close the fluid flow path.
When the valve is fully open, an unobstructed, through flow path is created inside, allowing for the maximum possible flow rate as pressure loss is minimized. A three-directional control valve is not available; only a two-directional control valve (open/close). Compared to Hand Valve, Ball Valve can be used to slightly adjust the flow rate depending on how the handle lever is positioned. However, Using Ball Valve this away all the time is not recommended. The fluid medium is air, and water is also allowed provided that all conditions are met. (*Ball Valve 20 & 60 series can be used for water piping.)
There are two types of valves used in PISCO Hand Valve: a two-directional control valve and a three-directional control valve.
The two-directional control valve only switches the air flow path between open and closed. "-2" at the end of the model code indicates it is a two-directional valve type.
Apart from the open/close switching function, the three-directional control valve releases residual pressure at the OUT (outlet) port after closing the air flow.

How to distinguish a two-directional control valve and a three-directional control valve
The two-directional control valve type can be installed in reverse with no problems.
For the three-directional control valve type, port positions must not be reversed because it has a residual pressure release function.
Hand valve is for air only. Please use Ball Valve (20 & 60 series) for water applications.
For vacuum piping, if your intention is to retain vacuum, please use a two-directional control valve type. A three-directional control valve should be used for vacuum breaking.
Please be sure of the proper direction when installing a three-directional control valve type.

PISCO Hand Valve is available in two resin body sizes depending on the tube diameter and thread size.
"HV5" or "HV7" marking on the side of the body identifies the resin body. It is not a model code or product number.
To avoid misleading our customers, the current production of Hand Valve no longer features "HV5" or "HV7" marking.
Please check the installation orientation.
The three-directional control valve type has a residual pressure release function. When the valve is closed, it releases air resided at the OUT port.
If the valve is installed in reverse, air at IN port will leak continuously.
