This vacuum pad uses static dissipative silicone rubber with a surface resistivity of 10⁶ to 10⁹ Ω to prevent damage to electronic components caused by ESD (Electrostatic Discharge).
While typical static dissipative pads have a surface resistivity ranging from 10⁵ to 10¹¹ Ω, the R69 type is manufactured to stricter standards and undergoes 100% inspection before shipment.
*) *Surface resistivity indicates the resistance of current flowing across the surface of a material.
What is ESD (Electrostatic Discharge)?
ESD refers to the sudden discharge of static electricity that occurs when two charged objects come into close proximity or contact.
In electronic and semiconductor components, ESD can cause malfunctions or performance degradation.
ESD Protection Measures
There are two main approaches to ESD protection:
・Controlling the generation of static electricity
・Quickly dissipating the generated static electricity
In vacuum handling applications, the latter—dissipating static electricity quickly—is typically used.
Difference from Conductive Rubber Materials
Conductive rubber is commonly used in plastic molding and other static-sensitive applications to quickly dissipate static electricity.
However, using conductive rubber vacuum pads for handling electronic components may cause sudden static discharge, potentially damaging the components.
Our "R69 Type static dissipative rubber" is designed to release static electricity gradually, helping to protect internal circuits of electronic devices.
Ideal for environments and workpieces that require ESD protection, such as semiconductor manufacturing lines and precision device assembly.
