Detailed Safety Instructions

Warning

1.The maximum load capacity of the gripper body frame including inertia force during conveyance is 980 N for VRG and VMG, 350 N for VLG single type and 700 N for VLG dual type. Do not overload the body frame with the weight of gripper and inertia force during conveyance and such.

2.When tightening replacement parts, use a proper tool with reference to the appropriate tightening torque. Also, temporarily tighten the fasteners in a diagonal sequence, then fully tighten them.

3.Install the product with no loose connections. Looseness may cause operational issues.

4.When installing the product, do not pull the air piping or pressure sensor cables. Avoid holding the product in a way that applies excessive load. Doing so may cause the product to malfunction due to disconnection or damage.

5.Implement safety measures in advance, including fall prevention, if a workpiece could fall and pose a hazard.

6.Do not constantly apply a pressure of 0.1 MPa or more to the vacuum circuit. Since vacuum equipment is not explosion-proof, there is a risk of damaging the product.

7.Monitor for a drop in vacuum pressure due to supply air or power failure. Implement safety measures to prevent workpieces from falling due to reduced suction force.

8.Do not block the exhaust port of Vacuum Generator, or operate the product in a way that increases exhaust resistance. Doing so may prevent vacuum generation or cause a drop in vacuum pressure.

9.Be sure to perform maintenance and inspection regularly. Failure to do so may lead to issues such as leakage and clogging in the vacuum circuit, as well as wear, cracks, or deterioration of the vacuum pads, and loosening of joints.

10.Take acceleration, impact, and wind pressure into account when using vacuum pads to convey workpieces. Failure to do so may cause the workpieces to detach during convey.

11.It is recommended to use the fixed orifice with coupling application for VMG under the following conditions. Evaluate the product with your actual system prior to use. (1) Use only for horizontal lifting. (2) Suction the workpiece with multiple vacuum pads attached to Vacuum Gripper during conveyance. (3) Use only for workpieces with an evenly distributed load across the vacuum pads. (4) Use only for workpiece with a load of 5.4 N or less per vacuum pad. (5) Maintain a conveyance acceleration of 3m/s² or less and a conveyance speed of 500 mm/sec or less.

12.Be sure to turn off the power before connecting the pressure sensor.

13.Wrong wiring would cause the sensor to break, fail and malfunction.

14.The pressure sensor is not explosion-proof. Never use it in an atmosphere containing flammable or explosive gases, or in dusty environments.

Caution

1.Periodically maintain and inspect Silencer Element of Vacuum Generator and Filter Element of Vacuum Filter. A clogged element may result in poor performance or cause problems. Before replacing the element, thoroughly read and understand the "how-to" guide of element replacement in the product catalog.

2.Do not use the product in areas exposed to water, oil or dust. Using it in such environments may cause malfunction since it is neither drip-proof nor explosion-proof. Take appropriate protective measures prior to use.

3.Refer to the "Common Safety Instructions for Fittings” for the handling of fitting parts.

4.For handling of Digital Pressure Sensor with 3-color dual display, refer to its "Detailed Safety Instructions" and the "Common Safety Instructions for Pressure Sensor & Switch" on the PISCO website.

5.Abnormal buzzing noises may occur at a supply pressure just before the final vacuum. Under this condition, vacuum characteristics become unstable and the noise intensifies. Readjust the supply pressure, as this state may also affect components such as sensors and cause malfunctions.

6.The effective cross-sectional area of the vacuum generator supply pressure side should be three times the nozzle cross-sectional area. Use this as a guide for piping design and equipment selection, as insufficient supply flow rate may cause poor performance.

7.Do not lubricate the product.

8.Remove dust and drain inside the piping before connecting. Foreign matter remaining in the piping may flow into the peripheral equipment, leading to malfunctions.

9.Install a protective cover if the product is exposed to direct sunlight.

10.For vacuum pump specifications, the piping on the vacuum side should be as short as possible with a larger internal diameter. Long piping with a narrow internal diameter may result in slow response time during workpiece suction and release, and failure to secure the required suction flow.

11.When storing the product, do not apply any load to the sponge surfaces and vacuum pads. Applying a load may deform the sponges and vacuum pads, resulting in suction failure.

12.When piping, ensure that the robot has a full range of motion and that the piping does not become entangled.

13.When determining the pad diameter, number of pads, and pickup position, thoroughly read and understand the theoretical suction force in the "Vacuum Pad Diameter Selection Tool" on the PISCO website and allow enough margin for the setting.

14.The appropriate pad rubber material and pad type vary depending on the application, operating environment and workpiece shape. 15.When replacing the Vacuum Pad rubber, check the vacuum pad configuration drawing. Then, tighten the fasteners with an appropriate tool to the torque specified in the following table, ensuring no loosening.

16.When replacing the pad adapters for the Vacuum Pad Soft, Soft Bellows or Flat Series, check the vacuum pad configuration drawing on the catalog. Then, tighten the fasteners with an appropriate tool to the torque specified in the following table by engaging the outer hexagonal part of the holder. Ensure no loosening.

17.Due to the characteristics of the rubber, additives contained in the rubber of Vacuum Pad may rise to the surface in the form of powder over time; however, this is not abnormal or malfunction. Please consider the potential for powder adhesion to workpieces and equipment before deciding to use the product.

18.To lock the coupling, push the plug into the socket until it bottoms out. An incomplete insertion may cause the plug to come off. After insertion, gently pull the plug back to verify it is securely locked.

19.If the pressure sensor is wired along the same path as the high-voltage lines or power cables, it may cause malfunctions due to noise. Use separate wiring paths.

20.When using the inner hexagonal part of the pad screw to tighten a fixed orifice, be careful not to insert the tool too deeply. (If the tool is inserted approximately 9 mm or more, its tip will contact and potentially damage Filter Element inside.)
